One weekend with nothing to do and a desire for new adventures, Sam and I found ourselves driving to Lamington National Park. After a short (1.5hour) drive from Brisbane we were climbing up the winding roads of the hinterlands, through rain forests, along narrow gravel roads with a sheer drop off – it already sounds like a recipe for adventure!
After stopping to feed Alpacas we arrived at O’Reilly’s Rain forest retreat – where most of the hikes leave from. We decided to do the Moran Falls hike, which takes you to a lookout for Morans Waterfall. We ended up walking a little extra to the top of the waterfall – which was sooooo worth it!!
Just around the corner from here was another lookout with the same spectacular view.
We stayed in this area for a few hours because no matter how long you looked out at this view it was just as amazing as it was the first moment you saw it. We really had to take it all in.
We decided we wanted to watch the sunset from a different spot and I knew there was an amazing lookout called ‘Moonlight Crag’ just down the road. I thought it was about a 10 minute walk, little did i know it actually turned out to be 40mins! whoops!! at least we got there in time for the sunset.
Our photos do not do any justice to how truly stunning this sunset really was.
As soon as the sun was out of sight the temperature dropped dramatically, we almost had to run back to our car in the pitch black of the rain forest! It was such a fun day trip!
